Who is CoffeeB

Coffee B is a Swiss coffee brand born from the desire to rethink single-serve coffee from the ground up. We believe that enjoying great coffee should be simple, convenient and high-quality, without creating unnecessary waste.

Our team brings together expertise in coffee roasting, product development, engineering and design, united by a shared ambition:

to offer a better way to enjoy coffee, focused on what truly matters.

Coffee B is not about adding more features or complexity. It is about removing what is unnecessary and keeping only what makes coffee great.

The CoffeeB story

The coffee capsule was a Swiss invention. In 1976, the way coffee was prepared at home changed, making it faster, easier, and more convenient. Over time, however, its success created a new reality. Billions of capsules are thrown away every year. Aluminum, plastic and complex recycling systems slowly became part of the daily coffee ritual. 

Coffee B was born from a simple but uncomfortable question: why does something as enjoyable as a cup of coffee still create so much waste?

Coffee B did not set out to improve the capsule. The capsule itself was questioned.

Rethinking single-serve coffee

From the beginning, the goal was not to make a better capsule. The goal was to imagine coffee without one.A capsule system without a capsule sounded unrealistic, even within the team.

And yet, the idea refused to go away.
What followed were years of exploration, trial, and error.
Countless ideas were tested.
Many failed.
Machines were built, adjusted, scrapped, and rebuilt again.
The concept may look simple today, but it is the result of a huge amount of imagination, teamwork, and persistence.

After years of development, Coffee B was ready to introduce

a radically different approach: the Coffee Ball. 

A compact portion of premium coffee, pressed into a ball and protected by a thin layer made from natural-origin raw materials. A system that delivers the convenience people expect from single-serve coffee, without aluminum or plastic waste.

Coffee at the center

Even the most innovative system is only as good as the coffee inside it.

Coffee B offers a broad and carefully developed assortment, designed for different tastes and moments. From balanced lungos to more intense espresso and ristretto varieties for those who like their coffee bold. From refined blends to decaffeinated options for anyone who prefers great taste without caffeine.

Over time, recipes have been revisited, refined, and improved to ensure consistency and quality in every cup.

A growing journey

Coffee B was officially launched in Switzerland in 2022. In 2023, the journey continued with the launch in Germany in 2023. Since then, interest from many other countries has confirmed that this idea resonates far beyond borders.  

The system has also opened to guest brands with deep roots in coffee culture. In 2024, illycaffè joined Coffee B, an iconic Italian brand known worldwide for its expertise, quality standards and unmistakable taste. In Switzerland, La Semeuse followed in 2025, bringing over a century of Swiss roasting tradition and a strong commitment to sustainability.  

In Germany, Melitta became part of the Coffee B system, a name closely associated with coffee expertise and one of the most established coffee brands in the market. 

What started as a Swiss rethink is now growing into an international ambition.
